Control Resonant Pattern Break World Feats: How to Solve the Patterning

Last updated 2026-09-29 · Verified against Two recorded Pattern Break instances and the reward screens · 5 min read

How do you solve a Pattern Break in Control Resonant?

A Pattern Break marks a cluster of floating objects that move together — except one. Watch the arrangement, hit the object that moves out of sync, then re-observe the new arrangement and repeat until it completes. A wrong hit knocks you back.

What is a Pattern Break in Control Resonant?

Pattern Break is a World Feat, not a quest. The marker reads Break the Patterning. A cluster of floating objects moves on one rhythm, and one of them does not.

How to solve a Pattern Break: step-by-step loop

  1. Watch the arrangement. Stand where you can see the whole cluster. Most objects float on the same rhythm.
  2. Hit the odd one. One object moves out of sync. That is the target.
  3. Re-observe. A correct hit rearranges the cluster and picks a new odd object.
  4. Repeat until the World Feat Completed banner appears.

The other nine World Feat names are in All 10 World Feats.

How to spot the odd desynchronized object

Motion is the only tell. A still frame will not show which object is wrong. Watch one full cycle before you swing. The odd object does one of these:

  • Jerks out of step with the group.
  • Drifts off the shared motion.

The objects change with the spot. One cluster was benches. Another was chairs and boxes against a wall.

Where Pattern Breaks appear and how they respawn

The map marks an active Pattern Break with Break the Patterning. One marked instance is in the West Incursion Zone, near the Parking Garage. That marker was up while another quest was already active.

World Feats refresh after you defeat a Resonant. The zone menu applies a World Feat cap increase on the next Resonant Cycle, which raises how many World Feats that cycle allows. A Resonant victory changes more than your ability list.

Pattern Break rewards and the Up to the Task trophy

The two recorded drops are not the same:

InstanceReward
Bench cluster×2 Aberrant Shard
Second drop×1 Aberrant Fragment + ×1 Violent Echo + 200 Source
  • One recorded instance rewarding two Aberrant Shards
  • Another recorded instance rewarding one Aberrant Fragment, one Violent Echo and 200 Source

A completed World Feat also counts toward that zone's level. Any single World Feat unlocks Up to the Task (Complete a World Feat). The trophy is not specific to Pattern Break.

Pattern Break not completing? Troubleshooting shockwaves

If the banner never comes up, read the result of the last swing.

  • Rearrangement means that swing counted. The cluster picks a new odd object. Watch that arrangement again before the next swing.
  • Knockback means it did not. A wrong hit throws a shockwave.

After a shockwave, get back up and watch the arrangement in front of you. Hit the object that is out of sync in that arrangement. Wait through the current cycle before you swing again.

All 10 World Feats in Control Resonant

Pattern Break is one of these ten World Feats:

  • Air Drop
  • Altered Tracking
  • Apex Hunt
  • Hiss Hive
  • Hold the Line
  • Mockery
  • Mold Infestation
  • Pattern Break
  • Suspended Extermination
  • The Firebreak Job

Pattern Break vs the Unknown Resonant shack puzzle

The Unknown Resonant route has its own sync test. It is not this World Feat.

  • Unknown Resonant puzzle: rescue four soldiers, then hit the out-of-sync glowing shack four times to open a door. A shack marker in the Unknown is that route.
  • Pattern Break: floating objects such as benches, chairs, and boxes, marked Break the Patterning, completed as a World Feat.
