How do you complete Power Lines in Control Resonant?
On this page
Power Lines is a mandatory main-story mission in Contain the Crisis. Dylan must reroute power through three surface subway stations in Central before descending into the sub-levels to recover the Vanished Station. This walkthrough covers all three surface reroutes (completed in any order), followed by the exact sequence required for Platforms A and B.
Before you start: Power Lines and the two device types
Calibration Units vs. Tuning Devices: what is the difference?
Every station in this mission relies on two distinct interactable objects. Mixing up their functions will make the puzzle steps confusing:
| Object | What it is | What you do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Calibration Unit | A fork-shaped object you can carry | Place it on a yellow-taped pad |
| Tuning Device | The fixed console at each station | Pull it to calibrate once the pads are set |
Moving charge and intentional teleport failures
- Transferring electrical charges: Strike a glowing power node with Dylan's melee weapon to store a charge, then strike an unpowered receiver to transfer it. This powers locked doors, lamps, and shop shutters.
- Intentional teleportation: Pulling a Tuning Device with an incorrect pad setup moves something. Depending on the station, that sends the units back, relocates the console, or teleports Dylan (which is how you get past locked gates).
Station locations and route overview
The three surface stations are all in Central: Perimeter Station just outside the Field Office, Factory Station by the Patterned Factory in the northern industrial area, and East Park Station near the gas station in the east. There is no required order — clear them as you reach them.
- Perimeter Station marked on the Central map, just outside the Field Office
- Factory Station marked on the Central map near the Patterned Factory
- East Park Station marked on the Central map near the gas station
Each station hides three Calibration Units, and each ends the same way: three units on yellow pads, then pull the Tuning Device. After the third station, the objectives turn to Head to the Surface / Help the Survivors and lead you down into the Vanished station.
Reroute Perimeter Station
Perimeter Station unit locations
- Unit 1: In the mold passage at rail level.
- Unit 2: Up the stairs on the opposite side.
- Unit 3: Inside a rail-level side room. Siphon a charge from the upstairs shop receiver and strike the door's receiver to open it.
Perimeter pad placement: closest pad and two farthest pads
The station's calibration note specifies the single closest pad to the Tuning Device and the two farthest pads:
- Pad 1: The yellow pad directly beside the Tuning Device.
- Pad 2: The yellow pad at the top of the opposite staircase.
- Pad 3: The yellow pad inside the upstairs shop (not the rail-level side room where you collected the third unit).
If the upstairs shop shutter is shut, siphon the charge back from the rail-level door receiver and strike the shop's receiver to reopen it. Place the final unit, return to the Tuning Device, and pull it. An incorrect combination teleports the units back near the device — collect them and place them again.
Reroute Factory Station
This is the subway station puzzle. For the separate boss inside the Patterned Factory, follow The Deserter boss guide.
Factory Station unit locations
- Unit 1: In the open shop above the stairs.
- Unit 2: In the moldy side alcove off the rail level.
- Unit 3: On top of the parked train.
Factory pad placement: aligning with the device's central axis
Pad distance does not matter here. Stand directly behind the Tuning Device and look forward: place the units on the three yellow pads that line up with the console's axis.
- Factory Station: the Tuning Device console and the yellow placement pads on the floor
- Factory Station floor layout with the device axis and the pads in line
Pulling an incorrect combination relocates the Tuning Device itself. If the console is somewhere else, stand behind its new position, read the axis again, and place the units on that new line.
Reroute East Park Station
East Park Station unit locations
- Unit 1: In the open shop past the turnstiles.
- Unit 2: Near the platform's Tuning Device.
- Unit 3: Inside the shuttered shop upstairs, opposite the open shop.
How to get into the locked shop (teleportation bypass)
There is no key. Pull the uncalibrated Tuning Device on purpose to get inside:
- Clear the mold off the candidate pads first.
- Pull the Tuning Device. A wrong calibration teleports you, and one of the landing spots is inside the locked shop.
- Keep pulling until you land inside. Watch where you land rather than counting pulls.
- Inside, break the red control panel to open the shutter, pick up the Calibration Unit, and walk out.
Clear the mold from all three yellow placement pads, put one Calibration Unit on each pad, then pull the Tuning Device to complete East Park.
Reach the Vanished station and find the four units
The initial teleport and unlocking the concourse bridge
After the third station, follow the objectives down. The Vanished station has two platforms, A and B, each with its own Tuning Device and two pads. The note says two things that matter: calibrate A first, and a wrong calibration transposes you to the other platform. That first crossing is one pull at A's device with nothing placed, which lands you on B.
- Platform A in the Vanished station: the device marked A and the big floor A
- Platform B in the Vanished station: the device marked B and the big floor B
From Platform B, go upstairs and break the red control box beside the shutter. That opens the passage between the platforms, so you can carry units between A and B without another teleport.
Where to find all four Calibration Units in the upper rooms
- Units 1 and 2, survivors' room. The mold on the door is fed by a powered lamp. Move that charge away, clear the mold, open the door, and meet Dr. Florez.
- Unit 3, the opposite room. The door needs power routed to it.
- Unit 4, above Platform A's stairs. Power the door open, take the unit, then move that charge away. You need the lamp off when you clear A's pads.
Calibrate Platform A
Place both units on A's two pads and pull the device. If a pad is mold-covered, send the platform's charge upstairs first, clear the pad, then place. This is the straightforward one — B is not.
Calibrate Platform B: grow the cable mold, clear the pads
Platform B is the mission's real puzzle, and the order runs backwards from a cleanup.
Why does the mold on Platform B keep coming back?
The powered lamps sustain it. Clear mold while those lamps are still on and it grows back. Grow the cable mold first, then move the charges so the lamps go off.
- Grow the mold first. Power B's two lamps so conductive mold grows along the broken cable runs on both sides. If one side is already grown, leave it.
- Move both charges upstairs. Send the two charges from B's lamps to the upstairs receivers. The grown mold stays. The lamps were only there to grow it.
Which mold do you clear on Platform B?
Break only the mold covering the two black placement pads on the tracks. Leave the mold on the cables alone. The pads have to be bare. The cable mold is what makes the reroute work.
- Clear those pads, place both units, and pull the device.
- Keep the mold connected to the cables, arrow added
- Clear only the mold covering the placement pads, arrow added
Return to Dr. Florez: Sandra and rewards
Defeating Sandra on the walkway
B's calibration updates the objective to Talk to Dr. Florez. On the way back, a named mold enemy — Sandra — blocks the path with her own health bar. Defeat her and continue upstairs to Dr. Florez. Sandra is not one of the regional Resonant bosses.
Quest rewards vs. optional Health Upgrade Point
- Optional Health Upgrade Point: A chest in the Vanished station holds a Health Upgrade Point (the collect-three counter). It is separate from the quest reward.
- Mission reward: Talking to Dr. Florez completes Power Lines and grants 1 Living Shard.
The upgrade resource guide explains where Living Shards fit alongside Source, Talent Points and upgrade points.
Common mistakes and troubleshooting
- Units vs. consoles. Calibration Units are the fork-shaped objects you carry onto pads. Tuning Devices are the consoles you pull.
- Teleportation is not the same at every station. Perimeter sends the units back near the device. Factory moves the device itself. At East Park and the Vanished station, the teleport moves you, and that is how you cross a locked barrier.
- East Park shutter. Do not hunt for a key or count pulls. Pull the platform device until you land inside the shuttered shop, then break the red control panel.
- Platform B mold. Do not clear the cable mold. Clear only the mold on the two black placement pads.
For other useful early objectives, return to the first-steps checklist.
FAQ
Main quest. It sits under Main Story: Contain the Crisis in the quest log, with the three Reroute objectives listed under it.
No. Perimeter, Factory and East Park can be rerouted in any order — recorded runs have succeeded with different sequences. The only fixed order is Platform A before Platform B in the Vanished station.
A Calibration Unit is the fork-shaped object you carry and place on a yellow pad. A Tuning Device is the fixed console you pull to calibrate the station. You place units, you pull devices.
The closest pad to the Tuning Device, plus the two farthest ones — the station’s own calibration note spells this out. Use the pad beside the device, the pad at the top of the opposite stairs, and the pad inside the upstairs shop. After retrieving the unit from the rail-level side room, transfer its charge back to the upstairs shop to reopen that shop for placement.
Use the station’s Tuning Device: a wrong calibration teleports you, and one of those teleport spots is inside the shuttered shop. The number of pulls depends on your current sequence state — in one recorded run it took three. Once inside, break the red control panel to open the shutter and walk out with the unit.
The powered lamps sustain it. Grow the mold along the cables first, then move both of B’s charges to the upstairs receivers — switching off the lamps leaves the existing mold in place. Now destroy only the mold covering the placement pads so it does not immediately regrow, and leave the cable mold intact.
Only the mold covering the two black placement pads on the tracks. Leave the mold connected to the cables on the central platform alone — the pads need to be bare, the cable mold needs to stay.
Yes. The note in the Vanished station marks the devices A and B and says A is first. Pulling a device with a wrong setup transposes you to the other platform, which is also how you travel between the two.
One Living Shard, granted when you talk to Dr. Florez at the end. The Health Upgrade Point chest in the Vanished station is a separate optional pickup, not part of the quest reward.
Sandra is a named mold enemy with its own health bar, encountered on the way back to Dr. Florez. Some guides call it a mini-boss; it is not one of the regional Resonants.
